Student Club Is Innovating To Lower the Cost of Satellites
Matthew O’Rourke, E’25, mechanical engineering, and Rachel Rakushkin, E’26, electrical engineering, were awarded Mosaic Prototype awards from Northeastern’s Center for Entrepreneurship Education for their work developing technologies to reduce the cost of satellite components as part of the Project Horizons student club.

Mahshid Asri, PhD’24, electrical engineering, who as a student was a researcher at SENTRY and ALERT research centers, is a new postdoctoral research associate in SENTRY’s Advanced Sensing Technologies research area, working on the Stationary and Aerial Based Radio Frequency/Radar Detection of Drones and Concealed Threats project.

PhD Spotlight: Julian Gutierrez, PhD’24, Computer Engineering
Julian Gutierrez, PhD’24, computer engineering, focused research on the development of a new class of high-performance algorithms used in Global Navigation Satellite Systems. After graduating, he joined as a computer research engineer at the Safety Critical Avionics Systems Branch at NASA Langley Research Center.
